Default Help!!!

Im 400 miles from home and having trouble. i have a 89 f150 4.9 4x4, it just started having trouble running. missing, stubling and idling really ruff. i changed out tps, coil, ing modula, fuel pump relay, and ecu relay. i pulled the number 1 plug out and left it in the wire on top the engine so i can see if it is sparking. well its sparking but very fait. not strong at all. so dont really know what else to do. the guys at auto zone said i should change out the rotor, cap, wires, and plugs. any body else have any thing they would like to add. i really need to get this truck going. im losing a lot of money by not having it running. im stuck in cleveland tx just north of houston

I had a map sensor to die recently and it sounds similar to what you are experiencing. It ran like crap for real! Also, try replacing just the rotor button. Had a cheap one to crap out on me once.

Check all electrical connections. Check for good spark at the coil. If you've got a DMM test the coil and ignition controller. There is usually a cause to a sudden breakdown. Broken connections are the most common. What happened just before the failure. Did you do any work. CHECK FOR CODES.

Codes was checked i have no codes. I left the plug wire from the dis to the coil off so i could see the spark. It was hitting hard and brite. And it wasnt sudden as i said above it started by running ruff, then stumbling, to not running at all. But like i said the coil and ign mod was changed out. After i changed them it trys to crank and sounds like a stronger crank. Just will not run
