Spout = SPark OUT. The timing advance connector from the computer to the ignition module. By removing the plastic bodied jumper connector, you disable any timing advance.

The PIP sensor supplies the timing pulse to trigger the TFI and injectors. A failing PIP sensor will sometimes let the engine start if the SPOUT Plug is removed.

The Spout (SPark OUTput) is essentially a "jumper" that completes the circuit w/ the ECU.

Strong spark directly from coil wire, but weak from plug wires?

If so, you're loosing it in the ICM (TFI) or PIP sensor (Stator).

The symptoms for either's failure are pretty much identical.

The TFI can be removed & bench tested at most auto part's stores.

the PIP is located inside the Distributor & requires it's removal & disassembly to replace the PIP, then reassembly (not an easy task). Most just replace the distributor as a unit. Do not replace w/ a Cardone brand! PIP's alone run anywhere from $12- $25. depending on brand.

Yeah i called autozone and had them pull up a diagram. They said the only thing i havent changed is the restor by the coil, and the pick up something (dont forgot whats it called) inside the dis. Both parts together i think are around $30

The resistor isn't applicable to spark loss.
I just discussed the PIP sensor/ Stator. Good luck trying to replace that. I did one. Wouldn't do it again. Better to replace the Distributor, also as I discussed
