Default Fuel pump issues

Hello:

Im a new member to the forum, I use this current forum a lot and I have to say this is the best place to find out anything about my ford. I do have a question to see if anyone has had a problem such as this.

On my 87 f150 4.9 l6 4x4. I'm having a fuel pump relay problem. One morning it just wouldn't start. It cranks just fine. So I began looking around and noticed the relay was not clicking. While looking in this forum I found a bunch of suggestions. So I tested the relay it has power. It has power from the EEC. It has ground and so does the EEC relay. Following the flow chart it said to replace the EEC relay although it seemed to work. So I did but still no start. I can get the fuel pumps to run by jumping the two circuits. But the relay will not go on by itself with key on.

I have also jumped the circuit in the EEC test port #6 and # 2. When I do this the relay clicks and pumps run. I can start the engine and it's like nothing's wrong. It's here where I'm stuck. I believe it to be a bad ECM. But before I go spending 100-150 on a part I wanted to get some more advice.

It seems that I could run the truck with the wires jumped but don't need to mess anything up.

Thanks for your time.
Justin

Why would you believe the ECM is bad when you haven't even pulled codes?

Remember '87 doesn't have the check engine light, you have to use a voltmeter or test bulb.

I'm away from my book right now. Is it primary or secondary?
