I was told that if I keep my cats on ( there are two) it would not be loud with a 40 or 44. He stated that a VX would be louder, better sound, and cheaper.

I read that the VX is designed after the 40 series but I am torn between the two.

I love my flowmaster it's a 40 series with no cats and it is really loud it wasn't too loud before I took all four cats off. I know for my next truck I'm puttin on a flowmaster and I wanna put one on my wife's expedition but she thinks it will be too loud. If you were to buy just the muffler and maybe have a system built at a muffler shop that would save some money but I would suggest eBay for a muffler they are pretty cheap there. Good luck with your choice though

I'm not concerned with the price to much. I just want the sound I want but this shop telling me that with my two cats in line with my Flowmaster will not be as loud as my two cats and a VX just worries me.

I don't understand why all you guys are so concerned with running a muffler. When I got my truck it had 2 cats and no muffler. I cut one cat off and had duals ran from there back and out the back. Cost me $260 and it sounds awesome

I guess Illinois doesn't have emissions tests then. Cause I've never heard of anyone around here getting their vehicle tested
