Default Disc brake conversion

How is the easiest/cheapest way to convert a drum 8.8 rear end to disc brakes? What brackets, and calipers should I use and will I need to weld it?

They make kits but they are like 500-600$ and Im on a budget so I'm trying to find brackets that would clear 15" wheels and not have to shave the caliper

Has anyone ever adapted disk brakes from an Explorer to an F150 8.8?

What year explorer came with rear disc and I will have to look into that, it might actually work with a little welding

Late 90's I think? Maybe early 2000's. I don't know if it's as simple as pulling everything off the Explorer axle and swapping it onto the F150, but I know they used a 31 spline 8.8, just narrower.

I'm hoping that I can find a way to bolt them on instead of weld them permenatly to my axle but I will pull some brackets off of an old on at pull-a-part

Ford Racing makes a conversion part #M-2300 (I think) Here's the catch, the rotors come with a 5 X 4.5 bolt pattern! The description for this conversion kit even specifies that it is for 'Truck Axles', why oh why they give ya the wrong rotors is beyond me, the parts guy at work couldn't figure it out either...

If there are other kits out there, I'd love to know where, I can't find em' but, I'd buy one tomorrow, no matter how much they cost....
