That's not too bad then. Plus I'm sure labor is more on a 4wd, which I didn't think about. Mine is a 2wd so I don't have a transfer case to worry about.

its abit more, but mine took extra long cause everything was caked in mud, it used to be a forestry truck.

I just got off the phone with my mechanic. The previous owner told me the hose that runs off the master cylinder reservoir busted and he replaced it and refilled and bled the system. The problem is he added the wrong type of fluid somehow. So my mechanic found that the rubber spacer under the cap was all swollen which I noticed and thought was odd, but he figured out that the wrong fluid was added and it swelled not only that rubber thing under the cap, but all the seals in the master cylinder and it swelled to the point that fluid couldn't pass through it. Long story short, it's gunna cost me 145 plus tax for the new master cylinder and to bleed the system. Which I think is a really good price. I guess I got lucky this time.

That job is an easy job if you want to DIY and save some $$$.

I am hoping my shift problems were because of the clutch. If so they should be fixed by friday. Went back down to the shop yesterday and they still (after over 2 weeks) had not started on my truck w/ no chance of starting soon. I told them to back my truck back out and I drove it down to another shop. He quoted me around $200 not including parts. Already have all the parts in the cab of the truck for them. Hope it is fixed tommorow... Motorcycles dont do well in thunderstorms, especially light bikes like my 650cc VStar Classic. Only weighs 595 pounds. I miss my truck... hearing it fire up yestarday was excilerating. Love the exhaust note flowing thru the 2 glasspacks

Yea it would have been cheaper to do it myself, but if I did it I would have to pay for towing to my house, and spend the day doing the work. I got it towed to my shop for free so in the long run it's probably cheaper. I would guess it would be about 100 to tow it from where it was to my place.

Hopefully your truck gets fixed as well. Mine has glasspacks too, it's nice to hear a real engine.

What gets me, is on the way to the other shop the clutch worked. Talked to the mechanic this morning and he said it would be started today. I will go by there tommorow and see if it is still sitting outside. Its been over a month now since it went down. :'(

If its the master cylinder, I've heard more than once people saying it works better when its warmed up, maybe the temp was different??

Its not the master cylinder, its the slave cylinder in the transmission. I saw fluid coming from inside the trans, and it was brake fluid (same as used in the clutch) Everything inside will be changed out. Got a clutch kit, slave cylinder, and rear main seal.
