Default 88f150 jerking bad

I have an 88f150 4.9l 300ci.Ive replaced wires, plugs, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel treatments. I have a jerking problem while driving it's gotten progressively worse. Before I spend any more money on parts that aren't bad can anyone point me in the right direction..

I think your best bet would be to hold off on spending money and head over to the 1986-1996 section. They might be able to help you a little more.

Have you checked for fault codes?

Welcome to the site!

As Warlockk suggests, I too recommend a code scan. IMO, a code scan should be one of the very first things done during engine troubleshooting efforts.

With the info given, the throttle position sensor (TPS), the TFI module mounted outside the distributor, or the PIP module mounted inside the distributor are the leading suspects, IMO.

Between any fault codes that pop up, and the troubleshooting specs given in most shop manuals - should be able to narrow things down to the exact problem without shotgunning a wad of dollars into the mess.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Thanks for the advise I actually replaced the rotor cap and button over the weekend and that reduced the jerk quite a bit but still jerks at speeds of 50-60 mph. I got a scan from a guy who told me it wasn't throwing back any codes but I'm not sure if that was the correct scanner to be honest. Does the new info pinpoint anything to anyone? Thanks so much for the help guys

It's not reading any codes and I've also replaced my distributitor cap and button. It's still jerking any other ideas?
