I strongly suggest picking up a Haynes manual and following the troubleshooting steps. We are going to get into a lot of system testing and it would be worth it to have a reference to follow. It will save you thousands in unnecessary parts and repairs.

As Warlockk suggests, I too recommend a code scan. IMO, a code scan should be one of the very first things done during engine troubleshooting efforts.
With the info given, the throttle position sensor (TPS), the TFI module mounted outside the distributor, or the PIP module mounted inside the distributor are the leading suspects, IMO.
Between any fault codes that pop up, and the troubleshooting specs given in most shop manuals - should be able to narrow things down to the exact problem without shotgunning a wad of dollars into the mess.
Good luck, and keep us posted.

Don't mean this to sound condescending but when you say the EGR seems OK, did you test the system? Same with the TPS and IAC and the ignition module and coil. There are test procedures for these parts. That's why I recommend a shop manual. You just look up the symptom and it will tell you what to test and how. It will save you days of hassle and a ton of cash.
