302 Performance
I have a mostly stock 94 302 4X4 and I'm looking for more performance. Can anyone recommend me some heads, cams, manifolds etc? It also has to be fairly cheap as I'm in high school and on a budget.
cheap isnt going to happen...what is your budget?
dial in what you got first to see how it is...a MAF upgrade would do wonders....
with the Speed Density system you have you aint gonna do heads, cam and manifold without re-writing the ECM and that will set you back 300.00 right there...is that in your budget?

Do this and I think you'll forget about the other stuff (a little over $100/$150 w/ a K&N drop in filter): http://fullsizebronco.com/forum/show...ht=timing+bump I'm doing a MAP to MAF conversion soon, just for the heck of it. I'm already happy w/ performance & MPG (16/21-a little better if I really try) 87' 302/87k.

You should be able to run 13.5 BTDC w/87 octane. I run 16BTDC w/87 oct. 89 if I'm running a long haul (both tanks w/o stopping or haulling a load.) But I also run cooler plugs (Motorcraft Copper Cores). x2 Plats run a fair amount hotter.
When I'm bumping the timing & gap stretching I stick w/copper cores. They're safer! (According to Motorcraft and I tend to believe them). In my experience, you can get a little more advance safely, out of copper cores because they carry more heat away from the combustion chamber and quicker than Plats. I like to see my plugs more than once every 50k anyway! If you just have to run Plats, AC/Delco rapidfire Finewires, but you can't stretch the gap. You have to run them at stock .044. Motorcraft just came out w/ their own finewires. probably a good plug too.
