Default Installing a cd player in a 96

Hi, I just bought a 96 f150 xlt and the tape deck in it doesn't work. I have an after market cd player laying around that I want to put into it. I have the wiring kit and the din tools already. I was wondering if I need a dash kit. I originally bought the stuff cd player from crutchfield but they won't tell me what is in the install kit for this truck and they won't send me new diagrams without me paying 40 bux for everything. All I need to know is if i need a dash kit or not. Please help.

Default Not needed

Any stereo you buy should have an aluminum sleeve. once you pull out the sleeve for the old stereo, just install the new sleeve and bend the fins out till it fits in the opening snug. Then the wiring is the fun part. I suggest buying the harness. I have the diagram for both sets if you need it. But its way easier with a plug.

I just installed one in my '96 and going to return the install kit, didn't need it. But jstmrn79 is correct, unless your an electrician or have more patience than I do, the harness is the way to go.
