Default Gauge Face

Wondering if and how hard it is to replace the stock gauge face. I was on blackcatcustom earlier and was looking at there selection and this would be a nice change. I know on my last car it was kind of a pain to get the cluster out, anyone take theirs out for whatever reason have any tips?

Also, what are the differences from the 96 to the 97 Hvac faces? I want to do that too but BC only has 97+

the cluster is actually pretty easy to remove. a lot of us have done so to add a tach to our trucks. you can also find white gauge faces on ebay just be careful taking the needles off to install the face. take pictures of the needles so you can get them back in the same place.

dont know about you hvac question though

I've seen a guy that took the hvac controls out of a crown Vic and put them into a 95 f150. They looked awesome. I'll try and find the link.

Not to hijack this thread, but does anybody know if the 92-96 HVAC controls will work in an 87-91 dash?

'87-'91 is better because it has the button to turn the compressor off and on.

thats pretty sweet. I guess I'll just see about having a custom one done for the hvac, they look similar but do not want to waste 25 and having it not work

Good to know its easy to get the cluster out, it looks pretty simple just by eyeballing. Guess I'll look around for a face now.

I have done it on my old car, it was definitely a pain to get the needles just right. Ended up having to start the car after getting them set right because with the car off the needles moved to easy while trying to get it back in the dash.

Yea, been thinking about getting a tach added. Might do that in the A-pillar though or see about another area.
