Default Hard to shift into 1st & reverse

I'm having trouble shifting into 1st and reverse. Recently, I changed the trans fluid. Any idea what may be going bad? It's easier to shift to first while I'm rolling. Also, if I cut the truck off...it shifts fine, but I can't do this at busy intersections. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Which fluid did you use?
Any recent clutch work?
Any fluid issues with the slave cylinder - leaking out or low reservoir?

Offhand, sounds like the clutch isn't fulling disengaging...

Sounds like your clutch is not releasing fully could be due to bad hydraulic cylnder's if equipped or linkage adjustment if it has mechanical linkage or perhaps a bad clutch cover [pressure plate] firs thing to check is the free play

No recent clutch work

No fluid leaking ....that I am aware of

I checked the slave cyl fluid recently....it was ok

Can't remember the fluid I used.....it started do this before I changed the fluid....that's what made me change the fluid.

I am open for any suggestions or advice!

Would it be clutch, release bearing, slave cyl, pressure plate, etc....?

Any or all of the above, check the free play [the distance the pedal travels before the throw out bearing contacts the pressure plate] should be about 1 inch. If its much more then then you probably have air in the hydraulic system

The 1 and 2 shift fork could be giving you problems . There are 3 shift forks 1st and 2nd are one shift fork 3rd and 4th are one shift fork and 5th and rev are other shift fork . They are bad about wearing out .

Now that I am paying closer attention to the way it shifts, it seems to be a bit "clunky" going into all gears.
