All things HID here!!!
I'm not sealed beam though. I might have messed up on the generation number, I think I'm an 8th gen at least. Truck is a '91.
Anywhoozle, I'm definately going to have to try that. My lights are starting to fog sometimes on the inside anyway, and judging by the multiple lenses I've pulled off junkyard trucks, mine should pop right off with the 21 year old glue real easy.
You wouldn't happen to know the point behind the refractor things on my lens would you? I know my reflector isn't diamond cut, but I still wonder if it'd be all good with a clear lens over it(pre-projector)

You do need ballasts, but there is a problem with the housing which is the fact that they are designed for the use of a halogen bulb with a thin filament as opposed to the gas orb capsule of HID bulbs. By fitting HID bulbs, the focal point of the reflector is missed so you get a ton of bright refracted light creating glare, as you can see in the OP's picture. Nobody likes driving toward that, very annoying and dangerous to oncoming traffic.
