A friend who works at Ford has been trying to get it to work at home but no luck.

He was able to turn on the brake controller and gain but it still does Nothing. It doesnt even recognize there is a trailer plugged into the truck

Sounds like you've bought a genuine Ford controller, Did the dance of plugging in the trailer, closing the door, truck started, pressing the brake pedal 2-3 seconds?
2 places of code changed in Forscan ?

I have a 2011, sounds like the same issue. I only saw one place to change code in forscan? Is the 2018 different?

I had a similar issue. I did the OEM brake controller install and the forscan update on my 2018 and towed a camper this weekend. It seemed to have worked but every time I would start driving the truck would ding and say the trailer was disconnected and the trailer brake would not recognize the trailer either, but when I would come to a stop, everything would reconnect in the computer then turn off when I started driving again. That being said , what do you mean by the “dance”? Especially the holding the brakes part.

there was a thread here form 2017 regarding this issue...the poster added a resistor on the trailer brake wire (on the trailer harness itself) that helped the controller/cpu recognize that a trailer was attached and eliminated exactly this problem. The original poster was gonzo...something.

here it is

I was getting ready to install a Ford TBC in my '21 f150. After reading some of the threads about them and their "finicky-ness", I've decided to stick with the Curt Echo controller that I've been using. It seems to work well and really haven't had any issues with it.
