Payload question
The people allowance(s) are in the towing capacity figures. There they figure the GCWR, subtract the empty truck curb weight that includes a full tank of gas, then subtract for a 150# driver (& one 150# passenger in 2021). The remainder is factory Towing Capacity.
Normally, if you can stay within your truck Load Capacity, and RAWR, you’ll most likely never reach your factory Towing Capacity.
Forget about the yellow sticker.............it's only valid as it rolls off the assembly line, but it is a good way to compare trucks.
Use the other label that has your GVWR on it and find a CAT scale. You'll find the truck loves being loaded heavy, I'm often 50-100 over the GVWR when starting a trip, it only stays that heavy until 5-10 gallons of gas are used up then all the forum weight police breath a collective sigh of relief when it gets under the GVWR.

Laws are broken all the time. I often exceed the posted speed limit. But I didn't start off teaching my 15 year old kids to do that. Same goes with advise to newbies, the OP did say he was a novice. It is assinine to give poor advise to newbies. This is how **** happens and they get in a dangerous towing situation, panic, and kill someone. Your continual snickers are
My advise to someone towing , take the advise on a forum with the same skepticism that you have when getting advise at the gin mill.. Do lots of reading on your own, stay within the GVWR and you'll be fine.
Safe travels.
