Thanks for the "real work" comment.... So very polite of you....
I don't know ANY carpenters, but I know that showing up with a few 2x4's and a couple of saws would guarantee your day is very, very short. Pretty certain it's easy, after a few decades in the trade to have damn near 1,000lb of tools and boxes to store them.

Construction is hard on the body and brain, and there is a lot of turnover. Those guys nailing in the framing of that new house going up down the street, most of them don't get past cutting boards, making concrete forms, digging holes, and swinging hammers. They know a very small subset of what it means to be a professional carpenter, IMO.

But it has the HDPP and it's a std cab. That's an extremely rare combo.

Default 5.5 vs 6.5 HDPP difference

Hi, I’m the new kid on the block. Hope this question is in the right place. I now have a great/reliable 2010 lariat screw 4x4 but with a non-existent payload and it’s time to trade, and this time I’m going back to cloth.

Comparing two trucks for payloads. Both with co-pilot 360, 40/20/40 buckets, cameras, FX4, tow mirrors, box lighting, sprayed bed, tailgate work, remote start, running boards. The contenders are:

XLT 302a, 5.0, 4x4, max tow, 5.5
VS
XLT 301a, 5.0, 4x4, max tow, 6.5, HDPP

Think I will gain any meaningful payload with the 6.5 HDPP, thoughts?

Several hundred pounds worth.....as well as added towing stability with the 6.5 box, beefier frame, springs etc.

Yes likely 800 lbs more.

Reason the crew cabs typically have a 7000lb GVWR while the HDPP has 7800lb GVWR. Adding the same options to both trucks removes the same amount of payload capacity
