Default Help configuring a SuperCrew with 2030 payload?

Hi - first, thanks for all the great info shared on this board. It has really helped in buying my first 150.

Question, I am trying to find an XLT supercrew with payload close to the 2030 payload. So far all the one I’ve seen have payloads in the 1700s.

Anychance there is is an obvious answer to how to get to 2030?

Thanks!

Brian B

Thanks!

I reply to bump this to the top. I don’t have data other than what is on the web. Looking at the tow guide there are 2 big numbers I see to maximize payload in a Screw:

Avoiding 4x4 saves about 180 pounds of payload.

going with a 3.3 or 5.0 saves about 50 pounds compared to the 3.5. Going with the 3.3 NA saves an additional 70 pounds.

Minimizing options helps. Avoiding tow packages helps.

From recent threads posted in the Late Model forum, I'm sure you could order a '19 XL or XLT SCrew with the HDPP frame option and achieve that payload rating. Scuttlebutt says the HDPP frame will ONLY be available at those 2 trim levels and not at the higher trims.

I have a 4x4 XLT Supercrew 5.0 with the 302A package and 36 gallon tank. If it had fewer options it might make your spec. Mine has a payload of 1940. In a Supercrew it would have to lightly optioned or the HDPP.

Step 1: Stop trying to "find one", Instead, order one. Dealers rarely stock them (as you've learned), so they are as rare as hen's teeth or Unicorns.

Step 2: Order the XLT trim with the heavy duty payload package (HDPP). Also add the max tow pkg, which requires the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. You probably won't "find" one in stock, because of low demand. But you can get one if you're patient enough to order one and wait for delivery.

(If you cannot live without the antiquated non-turbo V8 engine, then you can still order HDPP but not max tow.) Without max tow, you must also order the regular tow pkg, the big gas tank and trailer brake controller (ITBC) as options. They are included with max tow but not with the regular tow pkg. And yes, you want both the big gas tank and the ITBC.

Step 3. To maximize payload capacity, DO NOT order any heavy options, such as cab steps or tailgate step or bed liner or 4x4.

Assuming you're bright enough to want the 3.5L EcoBoost engine, then here's one I built on Ford.com build&price:

Model
$40,725 2019 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew®, 6-1/2' Box, 3.5L V6 EcoBoost® Engine, Electronic Ten-Speed Automatic Transmission, 4X2, 3.73 Electronic Locking Axle Ratio
(HDPP requires the 6.5' box on SuperCrew, so Sorry, Charlie, but the shorty SuperCrew is not available with HDPP)

Packages:
+$1,150 net price = Equipment Group 301A
Includes:
• 8-way Power Driver's Seat (Power Lumbar Driver/Manual Lumbar Passenger)
• 4.2" Productivity Screen in Instrument Cluster (includes digital tranny temp gauge)
• Fixed Backlight with Privacy Glass and Defroster
• Manual-folding, Power Glass Sideview Mirrors with Heat, Tum Signal and Black Skull Caps (can be replaced with optional tow mirrors)
• Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror
• Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel
• Power-Adjustable Pedals
• Rear Under-seat Storage (N/A Regular Cab)
• SiriusXM® Radio
• Seven (7) Speakers (SuperCab and SuperCrew®)

+$1,195 Max Trailer Tow Package
Includes:
• 4-pin/7-pin wiring harness
• 36 Gallon fuel tank
• Auxiliary transmission oil cooler
• Engine oil cooler
• Class IV trailer hitch receiver
• Pro Trailer Backup Assist with Tailgate LED
• Smart Trailer Tow Connector
• Integrated Trailer Brake Controller
• Upgraded front stabilizer bar
• Upgraded rear bumper = stronger receiver hitch built into the bumper

+$1,500 Heavy-Duty Payload Package
includes:
• 3.73 Electronic-locking rear-axle
• 9.75" gearset
• LT275/65R18C OWL all-terrain tires (A/T)
• Upgraded springs
• 18” Silver Aluminum Heavy-Duty Payload Pkg. wheels

Powertrain
3.5L EcoBoost® V6 Engine (high-torque towing engine)
Electronic 10-speed Transmission
4X2

4x4 is an option with HDPP, but it reduces payload by about 400 pounds.
Running boards and tailgate steps are options, but reduce payload.
PowerScope tow mirrors are an option, but for some reason don't show up on Ford build&price. But I ordered them on my 2019 so I know they're available. DO NOT allow your new tow vehicle to be built without tow mirrors.

Step 4: Plan to wait at least two months for delivery.

4x4 weighs about 400 pounds more than 4x2, with the same GVWR, so abut 400 pounds less payload capacity than 4x2.

Navigation radio is an option

It is when your GVWR drops from 7600 to 7000

When looking, the 2WD 157" with the standard tank were netting over 2k. I wanted the 145", with 36 gallon and 4x4. Wound up just over 1800.
