It's not even that. It's pure selfishness. I don't understand it. This big liberal movement with folks who, out of the same mouth, basically say whatever they think they need to say to justify doing whatever they want, everyone else be damned.
Some indignant women on the RV group I admin talk about how "they've got it handled" and "everything's fine, no issues' with a family of 5 in a tundra towing a 10,000lb TT. Politely warning them that their payload doesn't support the weight and they've busted the truck's GVWR doesn't seem to concern them in the least because they are just gonna do what they want. I'm sure there's a measure of them just blindly trusting what their spouse says as much as an 'ignorance is bliss' factor. Folks have a damn hard time admitting when they made the wrong decision or didn't know wtf they were doing.

I think when there's so much money involved with the cost of all these toys, people have a hard time accepting the fact that they may have made a mistake that needs correcting, because that would then involve even more money! So instead of doing what they know is right, they turn a blind eye and hope that nothing catastrophic happens.

For more fun and games, look up the Half Ton Haulers group on said book of faces. Some people want it to be a circle jerk. You're not supposed to criticize and say you can't tow that CAT D9 on a gooseneck with your F150. The only approved reply is "Send it" (right off a cliff).

"Deleted" (deactivated, most you can do) my facebag account awhile ago. One of my favorite recent decisions, right up there with completely cutting off all professional sports watching a few years ago (other than that one big game each year). Such a great pair of decisions. Try it!

Very true. They own what they own, often aren't in a position to change even if they wanted to, will convince themselves they are good to go with what they have.

Or put another way

Trying to convince a group like that, that GVWR and GAWR and the like are what they are and are supposed to be followed for safety, is like convincing certain other groups that speed limits are what they are and are supposed to be followed for safety.

Every group, most people, are selfish and do what they want how they want and will argue to the ends of the earth to support why they do so and they are safe doing so and the rules and regulations and laws and manuals just don't apply to them. It's a fools errand to try

log back in, there is an option to export your data and permanently delete your data from FB.

I have enough entertainment with our local city group. Today someone was asking for mechanic recommendations because there is fuel spraying out of the fuel rail at an injector when the ignition is one. The person insist on driving because "she doesn't have any other option" even though they lost 15g in 20 miles supposedly. So everyone said "dont drive it, there is a huge explosion/fire risk." of course here comes the internet trolls with the endless knowledge on everything insisting there no no explosion risk and everyone should "mind yo biznes". Tried being nice and said "while pooled gas isn't always an explosion risk, hot, high pressure fuel leaking from a bad oring will evaporate off to fumes quickly and in a closed engine compartment does pose a big risk and promoting bad information like this could be deadly." Even reminded her about the 2 kids that died a few years ago from a bonfire explosion at their graduation party due to someone dumping gas on it causing a vapor pocket that made it a bomb. was told to stop "mansplaining" and "don't comment unless your going to fix it for her." Which in turn went way down hill when i asked her "so what exactly are you doing to help her fix it?" just turned in to expletives after that lol, what a bunch of idiots. Feel bad for her kids, hopefully they live....

Ads showing half tons towing the space shuttle dont exactly help the uninformed towing public.

That's the heart of marketing though. Make up something ridiculous and put a bunch of disclaimers on it.

This guy towed 17,500 pounds at 77mph with a Tundra and documented it online.
