Default 1996 F-150 Eddie Bauer Edition

I've always wanted a Bronco - but I actually need a truck. This isn't a Bronco but its close enough for me. My plan is just to bring the truck back to its former glory - with a few upgrades here and there. I wanted to keep track of it all here.

I'll go into detail about how the truck was when I bought it and what I've done so far, but here is how it sits today. The rest will come later...along with better quality pictures when I can get onto my computer at home.

Basics
1996 F-150 Eddie Bauer Edition
215,xxx miles
5.8L 351W
4x4

Hopefully this post is in the right spot - all I'm seeing are 2010+ trucks here.

Here it is the day I purchased it. I wish I took more pictures of it before I started doing stuff to it. Anyway, the grill, headlights, and wheels were all showing their age. It also had some dopey sticker on the back window that I had to scrape off.

Out with the old, in with the new. I figured the easiest way to freshen things up a bit would be with a new grill, headlight surrounds, heads/tails/blinkers. I really should take that front bumper loose and line it back up properly..

Afterwards I took my girlfriend out into the fields to hunt for some blackberries to make blackberry pie.

Hm, my post was double posted at first...then when I went to edit the "second one", the first one went away.

Anyway. I really didn't like removing the metal center caps and replacing them with plastic knock offs...but at least they look great. Hit the wheels with some Sonax and Mother's Mag and Aluminum wheel polish - much better. Also got my step bars in and tackled why I was having trouble starting it up.

Scored a sweet matching camper top on craigslist. I never thought I'd find one. It isn't an exact color match to the eddie bauer trim color...but for $150 it is close enough. Had to make a kayaking/camping trip to break it in. this brings it to how it sits today.

My first car was an '89 Bronco II Eddie Bauer edition.

I still miss that thing

Thanks. My dad bought a 93 Bronco back when I was about 5 or so(1995), and hes had it ever since. That Bronco is why I wanted to start this project, makes me feel a little closer to home even though I'm 400 miles away.

Very nice truck. Curious how that 5.8 is on gas?

Thanks. I haven't really kept track...but its reported at 13 city and 16 hwy, 11 combined. I'll keep an eye on it the next time I fill up the tanks and I'll let you know. The only thing I can say is that it feels like I can almost watch the gas needle go down. Heh

Man, I really like that truck. The white and tan combo has always looked so classy to me.
I bet it'd sound nice with a mild exhaust set-up
