Thanks I don't ever plan on getting rid of this truck. I didn't even think about looking for an aftermarket solution to the trim. Unfortunately I didn't' find anything that looked factory. I saw this little trick on youtube. The throttle cable has some slack in it preventing the truck from actually being wide open when the pedal is on the ground. I'm going to find a better solution for a spacer but this will work temporarily. I left the tails on the zip ties on for the picture so you could see them, they were cut off afterwards. It fixed the slack problem. Pretty much finished with getting the engine bay in the Jeep cleaned up. Getting it ready to sell, I haven't really driven it in 2 years and has just been taking up space in my driveway. Looks way better than before. All I need to do now is get back under there with a wire brush and a paint pen and paint some of the rusty bolts black so it looks good. There are before/after pictures below. The truck is going to get the same cleaning treatment soon.

EDIT:: Drove it home from work. The gas pedal is tighter now, seems more responsive. Glad I did it.

While it fixed the problem it looks like crap, so like I said I'm still hunting for a better solution. I made sure to not put too much material between the pedal and the cable - I didn't want the throttle to be opened with the pedal not pressed down.

I've seen that "mod" before, but I haven't tried it. I'm scared to know what might occur with my truck at wide open throttle I did try the one "you tube mod" that took the lower tube to the air filter box out. It was suppose to give a noticeable power & response gain. Needless to say, I put mine back in place about one week later. May work on some trucks, but not on mine.

Yeah the little pedal "mod", or fix, worked out well. I like the feel of a more solid accelerator pedal. I recommend giving it a shot. A couple of zip ties and 2 minutes worth of "work" for a noticeable change. Easily reversible.

Got around to lining the bumper back up. After some wrenching, cussing, and pursausion, it's finally lined up. One of the previous owners must have bumped something...so it isn't perfect, but it's pretty close. I might revisit it later on to slide it to the right a little..but for now I'm satisfied.

EDIT: Damnit...that last picture makes the entire truck look crooked now. Gotta wait for some daylight to go see if its crooked....ugh

Finally gave this a try and I'm glad I did! Does make a difference in throttle response, only drawback is now I really wan't to use my lead foot...

It's so nice to see someone "resurrecting" an older truck. That is a clean rig you have there. Keep up the good work!

Haha yeah, it was too simple not to at least try. glad I did.

Thanks guys. I think that a frame up resto would be most ideal for what I want out of this truck...but I don't have the resources to go from frame up. So for now I'm just fixing the little odds and ends, and the stuff that I break. Speaking of which...those metal door handles that I loved so much...I yanked the handle to get out the other day and something inside of the door panel broke and the entire handle is loose. I really need to chill out with the truck-exiting.

Work has been kinda hectic lately so I haven't been able to do anything new. Other than break the door handle. I also scored some free wood from work

Had to make two loads. Gives me a good head start on building my outdoor kitchen

Ready to get the rest

Default Can't find what part this is

Does anyone know what this part is? It goes right beside the oil filler cap.
