I don't think the exhaust is stock, I need to crawl back up under there and check it out. Its got a nice rumble to it. I personally don't like real loud trucks. When I get some off time I'll actually get it cleaned up and take some interior pictures and get an exhaust clip. Still got some kayaking and camping gear in the back seat from the last time we went camping like 3 months ago. Heh. It is pretty clean except for a crack in the dash - as soon as I can find paint that'll match the factory tan interior I'm going to tackle that project. Speaking of the interior....

I replaced the plastic door handles with black metal ones. I was getting out of the truck the other night and I'll be damned if I didn't yank the handle too aggressively and broke it off right at the base. Found these metal ones and now that's something that'll never happen again. I actually like the feel of the metal ones more than I do the plastic. They've got a nice solid feel. Only bad part is somehow the driver's side got a good scratch in it. No idea how that happened. I also replaced the factory head unit with an aftermarket Alpine. It lasted all of 3 months before it started screwing up. Crutchfield sent me a new one and it arrived yesterday, I need to swap them out. I also need to figure out why the ash tray won't close all of the way. I just got the word that I'll finally have this weekend off and return to a normal work schedule so I'll finally get some time to work on the truck

Stupid thing won't get bright anymore and when you go to change the colors it won't change to what the color says. It'll say it is blue but it'll shine red. Yellow is blue. White is purple. Annoying. The lights on the left side stay white no matter what color you set them on.

Still need to investigate why the ash tray won't close shut. Something is back there blocking it, I just haven't gotten around to checking it out. I've also been meaning to paint the windshield wipers. They're gross looking.

The scratch. I'll probably touch it up with black fingernail polish or something.

Blower motor was making a racket and the air would only come on if it were on the high setting. Bad bearing in the blower motor and the blower motor resistor was toast.

Gotta fix the crappy splice job from the previous owner. Whenever I change the air from vent to defrost to ac, ect, it just does whatever it wants. That white line is the culprit. Kinda weird though because after I replaced the blower and resistor its stopped wandering around. Still going to fix it right though, that looks like garbage.

Ordered the resistor off of Amazon. It was the exact same as factory except for the color, which I'm going to pain the outside black, and one corner was squared off on it where that corner was notched on the OEM part. It is for a plastic stud. Circled in red on both pictures. A little filing and it fit like a glove.

Nice truck!

What kind/brand of nerf bars do you have? When I tried to find some 9 years ago for my '96, I finally had to use a set for a '97-'03 & do some slight modifying. I also like the gauge set-up with the factory tach!

Thanks. I had to splurge to get what I wanted. Westin 25-0620. They were more than I wanted to spend...but they were the only for sure option that I found that would fit. Plus my GF was complaining about having to "climb into" the truck. heh. Here is where I ordered them from.
Amazon Amazon
I left a review with pictures because the one guy who posted pictures of his truck are what helped me make my purchase. Hopefully they'll help someone else.

Haven't had the time to do any improvements on the truck, but I did have a tree fall in the backyard a few weeks ago. With the annual outage finally being over I finally have the time to take care of it. I had to pull it out of some weeds before I was able to cut it up. At first I was slipping in 2WD...but flipping those manual Warn hubs over into 4WD made quick work of moving it around. Can't wait to get rid of that little playground to make space for a dedicated shop. I love this truck.

You have a great looking truck there! I wish mine had the factory "wood-look" trim on the dash and doors. I've tried to find some in decent shape but I haven't seen any for much under $200 So I opted for the vinyl wrap I got off eBay. It looks okay, but I've been looking at the hydro-dip stuff as something I like to try eventually. But first I have a few more mechanical upgrades I want to do, shocks, bushings, door/window seals, etc. etc. !!!

Haha I understand. Yeah I love the trim, I just wonder why they didn't extend it to where the steering wheel and gauge cluster is. It all looks great..then you get to the gauge cluster and its just black plastic. Makes no sense to me

I got the burlwood woodgrain kit from stylin concepts years ago for my interior. It had pieces that went around the headlight switch & the other side of the the gauges as well as on the doors. Not sure if they still manufacture it or not. I've got a pic in my profile, but it's hard to see it. I bet those Westin bars are nice! Mine are some ebay knockoffs, but they stood the test of time thus far!

Love seeing these trucks from back when trucks were trucks. They don't make them that nice and that tough anymore unfortunately. These new trucks are all about car like ride and fuel economy. You have a beauty, I would keep it forever.
