Default Edge evolution programmer

I just got the edge evolution programmer yesterday and since I installed it I've been running it on level 2 or towing mode . Well earlier today I switched it to level 1 or transmission mode ,but I felt no difference at all . Do I need to drive it a certain distance for it to switch mode or what ?

I have a 2014 F150 standard cab - 8cyl. 5.0.
so being new to the whole tune thing.
? question is why?
don't get me wrong as I am not trying to start a bad blood argument here, I am
just wondering what kind of benefits tuning your engine can give you and why would I need to do this?

I had my SCT X3 which was locked to my Mustang sent out for RMA so it could used the "canned tunes" on my F150. So far I'm still getting acquainted with the Strategy Tuning. All I have done so far was Calibrate my Speedo to acount for my 35" tires and remove the speed limiter. Have only tried the 87 octane tune but after 30 mins on the high way my MPG went from 13.5 to 16.7 and were continuing to increase. (Of course now I'm calibrated to the proper tire size as well). This weekend I'm going to do some research and fool around with the other settings. I will update my results

I am looking at the SCTx4 tuner (open to other ideas if something else is recommended). Can the tune be installed and the tuner be removed from vehicle or does it have to always be connected? Or do you just have it connected to log data and load tunes?

In all of my previous vehicles that I have tuned (WRX, STI, 135, 335, and A4) the tuner was used to load the tune via the OBDII port or flashed in the ECU. Once the tune was installed there was no longer any hardware attached. If I wanted to remove the tune, I could put the tuner back onto the OBDII port and remove or replace the tune.

I really don't like the idea of having the tuner connected all of the time.

That is exactly how our MyCalibrator tuner works! Your tuner will arrive to you completely blank, and ready to read info that will give us your factory calibration. You email that info to us, and we build you your tunes. When they are built we provide you with an app to download to your PC. This app will allow you to connect to our secured remote tuning server. All that you have to do is click "Update Tuner", and that will send us your factory calibration. Once we get that info to our calibration department we will have your custom tuning files ready for you in 24-48 hours. Whenever your tunes are ready to put onto your handheld we will email you letting you know that you can plug your tuner back into your PC and update the tuner again. After that, just load your tune onto your car and have fun! My only additional advice would be to leave the tuner in the glove box or center console, to be safe. Hopefully this does NOT happen, but if the [insert teenager age here] is driving and texting happens to hit you the truck would have to make a trip to the dealer. The dealership cannot speak to a tuned ECM. So you always want to have the ability to flash back to stock for the convenience of your dealer. What year and variant of F150 do you have?

The biggest reason to choose our tuning is that we are completely independent. We use our own proprietary tuning software and MyCalibrator device for all our tuning. Having our own proprietary tuning software and hardware means that we have more control over what we can and ultimately will do. Our software allows us to have far more access to your ECU, and because we have more access our tuning files are much larger than most. This only shows that more of us goes into our tuning files VS the competition. We routinely invest in test vehicles both pre and post public release to ensure that we are offering the most responsible aftermarket support in the entire industry. There also is not another aftermarket vendor that has the corporate ties VIA their R&D and skunkworks for the big 3 domestic automakers and their performance divisions.
