Default yellow headlights!

anyone have any ideas as what to do about my yellowish looking stock headlamp lenses. i just put new silverstar ultra bulbs in them and it helped alittle but the lamos themselves are a yelloish color due to age i think. i have a 1998 150 ccrew cab xlt. should i get new headlamps or is there anyway to take them off and clean the inside of them? i have heard of some kind of headlamp cleaner/restorer. ever heard of this. any advice would be great. i drive alot at night.

Thanks!!!!!!

I have heard of this cleaner/restorer, but do not know anybody that has tried it. I am skeptical about it though. The "plastic" lens is turning yellow due to the ultraviolet rays from the sun deteriorating it. I doubt that a cleaner can reverse this damage.

I would recommend checking out eBay or lmctruck.com or rockauto.com for replacement parts.

i tried about four different compounds and cleaner types on the old lamps on my car and have concluded that the best option is new lamps on ebay.

yep, that is very easy, and you can get aftermarket cheeper than new oem parts.

I know this is off topic, but the black plastic ring around your back window, and your bedcaps (which are now nice and grey) can be made black once again by a product called forever black. Its that best stuff that you will find for restoring that grey back to black.

wax and high grit rubbing compound is great for fixing that.. i used to use some chrome/billet polish and cleaned em up great...

or buy some new ones online, they are fairly in-expensive
