3-m makes a compound for polishing the outside lens,,anythig more destroys the uv coating that most lens have.

If it's bad enough I would get some fine grit sandpaper and then top it off with a nice polishing compound.

Default meguire's headlight polish

Well I hope you have had success with cleaning your headlights by this time. If you have not yet done this, let me give you a word of advise from someone who has tried to make this process go a little faster. Use a dremmel with a buffing wheel but DO NOT use the faster settings! Go Slow! I did that with my buddies truck and the high speed of the buffing wheel melted some of the plastic, so it looks like he has a permanent bird crap on his headlight. I offered to but him a new headlight assembly but he said no, saying that a new onew would stick out like a soar thumb against the old one. It did get a heck of a laugh with the rest of the guys though. That being said, the meguires stuff works ok, but if you can clean the inside as well as the outer, it should work with great results.

Its the outside that turns yellow. We do a 3 step process for cleaning and polishing lenses. Works great. I did the taillights on the Mustang to.

I have always used Brasso for this sort of job, however you do it I would suggest getting a set of these covers.
