Winch?
i was looking to get a whinch for my truck here in the next few months, hopefully. Just wanted to know if they over heat, i was planing on trying to mount it behined the valace. wanted to know if it would be fine back there or if i should put a fan somewhere near it to help air get into it. i know they have internal fans but do you think i should give it a little help.
They will overheat and burn up if you run it constant sure. But how many times are you actually going to use it? And hopefully you know to only run it for a little, stop let it sit, then go again, let it sit.. ect so it doesn't burn up.
well yeah i dont plan on running for a long time, or getting stuck, hopefully. just wanted to know if it would be ok because it will be just below the engine bay and i will need to have my truck runing because im going to get an electric one because it will be a pain in the ***** to run the lines and pump for a hydraulic whinch.
they do? that would be great way better than trying to make one. and with tha being said what one should i look into getting.

anything over 8000LB is good for our trucks. get a ****** block, some D shackles, and a tree strap. you dont HAVE to have your truck running to use an electric one but it helps in the charging of the battery.
just something to think about, you could get a front mount reciever hitch and theres winch mounts fit a 2" reciever. that way you can take it off when your not using it and lock it in your toolbox or something. it also keeps it from getting stolen or the classic prank of getting all your cable pulled out and sitting in the parking lot. and you can move it to the back bumper if need be

well i didnt know that my grill gaurd would be in the way i will have to do some work and see if i can make one that will mount a little higher to have the cable go where the holes are in the valace. that is what i was going to try in the first place. if i find a way 4x4wolf i will let you now and put up a thread and pm you when i do, it may take a while but, ill try this week and see if a whinch will even fit that high up. if it stops f'ing raining and being cold. but ill let you know as soon as i can, if you still want one and dont have one.
