Default Walmart

Landlord won't let me change oil and such in the drive so I have to take it to garages. Seeing how it's a simple enough process that a 12 year old could do it, I take it to walmart. This trip however really makes me irrate.

So after sitting there for 3 hours waiting for them to service my truck, I finally see them pull it in the bay. Vacuum it out then pull it up for oil change. One guys under the hood longer than needed, then a second guy comes over. BIG RED FLAG. They see me and approach stating, sorry we can't change your oil. I'm like wtf, why not? We can't get the dipstick out. I laughed and went to see. The moron had broke my dipstick tube where it goes into the oilpan. I immediately stopped seeing the humour.

I ask for the store manager, they bring a dept. head, ask again, they bring asst. manager, ask again they finally bring a co-manager. The service department claims it was already like that, I say no, they say it's got 150k on it, time for something to happen. I opened my glove box and show the warranty for the BRAND NEW CRATE ENGINE. This is when the tap dancing starts.

I told them

1st. Look at the break, see the shiny metal, they say yes what's your point. I said bare metal oxidizes when exposed to elements and seeing how it's been rain snow rain snow for 2 weeks now, please explain how the physics have changed?????

2nd. I asked them if they saw how clean everything was, no dirt, no grease and NO OIL. They said yes, why, I pointed out that if it were like that don't you think it would be covered in oil. Especially since I drove 21 miles to get there. And where is the leak at while it was sitting, waiting to be serviced?

The nerve of this organization. If they would have said looked dude we broke it, we're sorry, we'll fix it, don't sweat it, it may have eased my mind. Outright denying the obvious really ticks me off.

So after 6 hours at this walmart, I drive the truck across the street to a napa service center. Followed by a massive trail of oil, couldn't have gone much futher. Repair bill is 67 bucks for a new dipstick tube.

But wait there's more.............

The repair shop managed to break the new dipstick tube while installing it, I know right. It will be tue before they can get another one, hopefully if install goes right, I can get my truck back and still needs an oil change. To think this all started by going to walmart for an oil change. Anybody got a dipstick tube for 98 4.6 windsor laying around they'd overnight to me j/k, well halfway, well not at all, I need my truck.

Yeah sucks monkey *****, does anybody have a pic of the way the tube is supposed to be routed?? The shop broke the new one because it was in a bind. They asked if I remembered how it ran and honestly I've never paid attention to the detail of the oil dipstick lol. If somebody has one it would be very much appreciated if you could up it.

Yeah beware of walmart. My wife took her car there to get the oil changed...Applaud her for trying lol. After getting the oil changed she drove home approx 10 miles and when I came out and looked at it there was oil all over the ground and all over the engine (Everywhere) It was at least 2 quarts low. They didn't tighten the oil filter and it was squirting everywhere! They said oh that wasn't us.!

Default Caveat Emptor:

That Wal-Mart has only hammer mechanics working in its service departments is a given....

I do my own oil changes, but, if I did decide to go to a "pro" for the work, the only place in the world is the Quicklube that my son runs. If anyone needs an honest oil change, stop by Edgewater Quicklube in Edgewater, FL, and ask for Bob.

had the same problem renting in vegas, we would just drive to an apartment complex parking area in the back and do a quick oil change, no problems but not convenient.
