truck wont start help please
No problem.
Keep an eye on that plug chamber repair. The only proved methods are lock and stitch (Ford) and Time sert. If anything else was use, it's almost guaranteed to blow again.
Also when you install the new plugs, - run them in at 28'lbs. That way they won't back out, - unless the chamber is damaged.

With 4 thread heads, the thread strength was tested too 100' lbs before catastrophe. No one will usually over torque them this way since the spark plug yield is less that 40' lbs (before you break the seals).
The problem was either cross threading or under-torqued from the factory and working their way out. Sometimes it would take 40,000 for a plug to spit, - sometimes they never did and at times sooner. There was only one recall back in 99. The recall was one where the robots over torqued the 5fours lol. That later proved to be correct after all.
After the dust settled (so to speak), the proper torque was and is 28' lbs. Not 9-15' lbs for these heads.
In case you didn't know.
Hi Jbrew, I picked up 8 motorcraft single platinum plugs and so far changed two....wow this is a little stressful lol. I air hosed out the dirt, sprayed wd40 to lubricate them and slowly backed the plugs out. The old autolite ap 103 plugs seem pretty white and not so great. I am really hoping to see her come back to life after changing all eight.
I'll post results after finished. Thanks for the advise. Is the autolite heat range different than the motorcrafts?

It can be difficult to tell a bad Autolite from a good one. They quit firing under certain engine loads, and fire again at others. So you may not be able to tell by looking at them.
I started with the driver side bank. Not much room to work in but do able with fuel rail etc removed.
So I am figuring these plugs didn't like sitting hot with the engine off for a while and that's why it doesn't like starting right away under that condition.....considering fuel pressure and regulator seemed fine.

You probably already know don't change spark plugs when motor is hot I seen a video where they broke off also check your seating on your boots to make sure there is no cracks and use silicone gel Electric on coil plug going to plug I have seen heat cracks on videos haven't changed any plugs on my 97 yet I was told not to touch it or after Christmas that's my Christmas present lol
