truck wont start help please
by the way, when it does this starting issue....it seems to crank easier or faster than normal and it hesitates before starting. like I can let off key and it will hesitate then start on its own.
Alright, you going to have to catch it when it's acting up and try a few things.
The PO300 is key, - tells me allot anyway. I think you either have a fuel delivery problem or a spark plug problem. If your useing Motorcraft spark plugs, then that's not it, unless they have over 100,000 miles on them. Bosch and Autolite plugs are the worst. They can and have caused these type issues. At times, right after a change or it could be down the road a bit. So if that's the case, it's suspect w/ that multiple misfire DTC.

Keep in mind, after 4 seconds of cranking your fuel rail shuts down via PCM command. Never crank More than that or it's not going to start for awhile. I'm not sure what the reset is set for (never timed it), but it can take awhile to reset. I can explain that further if need be, but. Try these first. Crank for 3 seconds, if it doesn't start, leave the key in the run position, crawl under the truck and hit the center of the tank. Listen for the pump to come alive and charge the fuel line. Hit it a few times just to make sure it's not sticking on yuh once in awhile. You'll hear it.
Fuel pressure doesn't matter much if you can't catch the problem when it's happening, - no what I'm saying?

ok that makes sense to try. I try not to crank it too long, but what do you think it means that I can crank it a few seconds and let off the key and it kinda stumbles to life on its own? its really weird to me.
oh and when I checked fuel pressure, It sat warm for 1.5 hours and I turned key on, it read 20 psi and as soon as I cranked it a second I went and looked at the gauge and it read 40 psi like it normally does when key on, engine off and falls to 32 while running. yet even though the pressure went from 20 to 40 psi, I thought it would start right up at 40psi but it still stuttered and cranked like it usually does.
It has done this problem even with the pressure at 32-40 psi so im starting to think it could be sensor related or plugs. when it spit that plug a few weeks ago, I pulled the next one towards the fire wall on passenger side and it was sort of white. The spit one was dark. I believe the mechanic would have put motorcraft in it since he knows his way around a modular. im just afraid to change plugs myself since they seem to strip so easy.
thanks for the help so far

They are a problem, - It's most likely yours. If it's the ap or app 103 or 104's Autolite plugs I'd say they ARE the problem. It could also be a flakey pump or a relay.
BTW- an easy way to tell if it's a fuel relay problem, - the relay will always be warm to the touch when keyed.

For your relay local you have to look in your little owners manual in the glove-box. Ford moved them around from year to year.
