Anybody good with AC because I'm not. The 1 ton is my DD now, it's a 13 6.2L. AC quit working and have a buzzing type squeal noise from it under the hood at idle. Best I can describe, not exactly a bearing type squeal, sort of I guess. Goes right away when I throttle it up.

Thought maybe Phil or White might know. Is it worth attempting to recharge or is it a replace everything thing ?

Usually when it buzzes, it's overcharged or has a blockage. It is really common for those to need an TX valve (thermal expansion) at 10 years. That would be my knee jerk reaction based off of your description.

It still "works", just not as well, correct?

I would start by checking your pressures.... if your low side is way high while running, TX is my thought. Also, after you shut the motor off.... let the gauge set sit hooked up. After a few minutes, if the pressures don't even out, this has to be bad.

EDIT: It looks like this... it's generally located at the firewall, right before the evaporator. I used the Four Seasons expansion valve on my Escape, and it was a really nice piece. Works fantastic!

Hmmm.... Well, I thought I'd already produced this video. Guess not - oops!! This is where it's at on the Escape.

Trying to weigh whether it's worth schooling myself on this or just taking it in lol. Tools I'd need and whatnot.

Purchased this truck about 3 and half years ago in Virginia. Originally a Florida truck, traded in at a dealership in Virginia..think it was Chantilly VA if I remember right. But I haven't used it much. Sold the Excursion outright back in March. Have a feeling I'm going to pay for letting this thing sit so long...it's already starting lol.

This was the first time I've attempted to use the AC in it...I know ..terrible lol. It's a beautiful truck though..clean Lariat, low miles.

So no AC at all and the buzzing just started.

Got a PO6B6.

AC is shelved for now.

The 6B6 is more my thing....more of a priority anyway. Mice..has to be, made a home in the engine compartment and above the spare so far...actually hard to see.. Chewed up some wiring , even chewed on the big ALT cable. Took out some EVAP hose as well (2 spots noticed thus far), it had an EVAP DTC pretty quick after firing the thing up again. Like the third drivecycle anyway...battery was disconnected while storing. Started and ran fine though. The camera wires look nasty, but none of them are chewed in half, come on automatically when in R. Reverse parking aid sensors aren't working though.

Kind of strange, had it parked at my uncles in a 40x60 pole barn. He and I, and my dad built most of that barn, - 6" concrete floor and a 2.5' rat wall on 12" footings. Varmints didn't dig their way in...I can tell yuh that. Must of squeezed through one of the big doors or ...perhaps shot the gap when any one of them was open. Have to go look at again,, little more thoroughly. I don't think it's serious enough to get insurance involved, not yet anyway.

Got out of fooling with the AC yesterday....lucky me!

I keep a supply of those glue traps, and always have some in the corner of the garage.
I catch bugs and spiders all the time, and once in a while a mouse that ventures inside.
