I scored a 2-spd Mark VIII fan at the u-pull this morning. Looks like this is gonna happen.
Or I'm gonna make some money.
Either way, I win.
Funny, I found 3 p/ns on this fan and not one of them even so much as exists, according to the internet, even though it came from a 96 Mark VIII.
I also confirmed, through testing, that this is a single speed fan, despite the absence of an inspection cover (which is supposed to indicate that it's a 2-spd). I think I'm going to just return it because as best I can determine (far from conclusive), a single speed Mark VIII fan is barely faster than the min speed on the stock fan, and that seems risky.

Post a pic of the motor and harness. I can probably tell you what you have off of that. Two speed is probably the VDO motor.
Siemens motor p/n FL3H-8K621-AA
Wires are green black black as shown. The middle black and green appear to tied +12v and the bottom black is -. Middle black to green is a short. Putting the bottom black to + makes reverse rotation.
So my Mustang had a bit of a tick from the engine that I didn't hear on the test drive. I thought oh damn, it's the cam phasers. Then I watched several fordtechmakuloco vids and decided it was one of the cam followers based on what he said about the noise being all the time or only at idle etc. Bought a follower and tore into it. I checked each follower on the drivers side and couldn't find one worse than the rest. I then resorted to popping them out one at a time and comparing them to the new follower, still none bad so I reluctantly put everything back together. A week later my plugs finally show up from RockAuto, 1/2 price Autolights compared to anywhere else so it was worth the wait. I read all about these 2 piece plugs breaking and read the updated TSB about using Motorcraft Carb tune up and an in/out procedure to get them out. So I got the Lisle extraction tool and prepared for a fight. The 1st problem is these are 9/16ths plugs and even though I have a dozen spark plug sockets, none of them were that small. A trip to the local parts store and that was solved. So I remove all the coils, blow all the holes out with air and spray in a little carb tuneup. I gently put the socket and extension on plug #1 and just wiggle it to make sure it's seated, the plug moves. It's in there less than hand tight! I never even used a ratchet on this one, just unscrewed it using the socket and extension. Then replaced the rest without incident. As you may have guessed, this cures my tick sound but even crazier is the ground strap is gone, not worn down but actually gone as you can see in the pictures. I put a new next to the old for comparison. Not surprisingly the car runs mush better when all 8 cylinders fire. I had previously noticed bogging at part throttle which encouraged me to change the plugs but I never dreamed it would be like this. Not sure where that strap went but hopefully it isn't destroying something. I put 50+ miles on it and so far so good. Gas mileage is up, power is up and the ticking is gone so I'll call this a win
Too bad you didn't post here first.... Champion actually makes a one piece plug for the 3V's that won't break. I hope your ground strap didn't break off and fall into the cylinder.
I saw the Champions but I also saw people complaining about them after a short mileage. It seemed like the basic consensus was Motorcraft are best with Autolights being 2nd even though Autolight supposedly makes the Mortorcrafts. Champion was either good or crap depending on who was writing the post. Since the Autos at Rockauto were only $5 something and the others were $12 + I went with cheap on this one.
I got my FiST back from the body shop on Friday finally and I like it waaaay better than the Mustang. It weighs about 1,000lbs less and you can feel it in every input. Driving them back to back it's like the Mustang is a race horse that needs half a step to get going (Automatic) but then is very fast vs the FiST that is like a rabbit or squirrel, it just changes direction, starts or stops immediately. Don't get me wrong, I like the Mustang, especially cruising with the top down and tapping into the V8 but it just isn't as nimble and eager to play as the FiST. I imagine the Fox body to be the perfect compromise. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they weigh about 2,700lbs (same as the FiST) and have the V8. My 3valve has more power than a stock Fox but has to drag that extra 1,000-1,200 lbs around. In the 1/4 it is faster but the eager feel of less weight has me thinking the Fox is more fun.
