Interesting, -what do fasten together with it ? Will it do dissimilar metals ?

It will do welding bolts together, flat metals (galv panels or flat plate up to 18 gauge or so) etc. We used the one I built to spot weld in his over wheel rear panels. It took a few minutes to get the feel and how long to hold the power on, but after a couple tries, he had it down.

Yea I watched the vid, the joining bolts or rod to bolt was interesting. I was just wondering if it would join aluminum to copper lol.

We played with it for a while, trying different things and it did surprisingly well. If the copper is thin enough and the aluminum, it should be able to heat weld them together. It did very well on cut in panels. I used a 1100 w microwave for my parts cannibalism. I almost forgot about the monstrous capacitor. That sob threw a spark, blue as hell, when I discharged it later. It was so loud, my dog ran into the bedroom. If I'd of shorted that between some skin, that would of probably of killed me. A 5 inch tall, 2.25 diameter capacity, will carry a lethal charge, so remember that when you disassemble a microwave. Discharge the capacitor as soon as you can safely get to it, before removing it from the case.

A 100k resister would of kept the dog in room and you wouldn't have had to change your shorts lol.

Not sure what that capacitor retains, A LOT! 1100 Mega Watts is only around 4000 Volts DC when energized. Just think, you could torture a human with a car battery.

Read the info on this capacitor. This is a bit smaller than the 1100 cap that sounded like a 32 cal going off. This will fry your butt also, and it's 30% less in rating than what was in the big Sharp microwave I took apart.

So... the check engine light came on in the Escape today.

Turns out that the t-stat is sticking partially open, so it threw a code. Got out the Autel and watched the temp while I drove around. Never got over 180 degrees, and was usually right at 173. Sooooo, I think I've figured out why it has not heat. The goofy thing is, the gauge still sits in the same spot as it did when it was getting to 195 degrees - so I figured all was well.

Just as quick as that snow piled up here, it's all gone. We've been in the upper 40's the past few days, and today it got up to 58. It's still piled high in the mountains though.... I fear flooding if this weather pattern keeps up.

EDIT: The news just said 59 was the high... I stand corrected.

Have you noticed, that capacitor there is truly I flux capacitor....Doc. As in that space invader movie. Back to reality flick.

Crap. Back to the Future!

Think I'm shell shocked at the moment or something like that... Went up town to sneak a couple potash bowls before it get's too late. On the way back about a mile from home, a wrecker passed me in the opposite direction loaded up.. Another truck further ahead with it Hazards on. Began to slow down and BOOM! Nailed a monster chuck hole dead on which has claimed one truck , one SUV before me.

Impossible to see because of road conditions.. (wet , way too much glare to make anything out at that particular spot. street lights, whatnot. Both Dodge and SUV had front end damage. And both quit running, wouldn't fire back up. (an inertia episode I expect). The Dodge from what could tell, lost both links and wrapped the stabilizer bar..mangled twisted. That took some force getting that bar to rotate like that.

Police already on their way.

Btw the way, I may have been going a little slower... the 98 didn't even loose a center cap.
