Make sure you use silicone where the cover and block joint at the lip, because FE's like to leak there.
Yeah I noticed that, will for sure but a healthy slathering of "the right stuff" on there.

interesting, the bolt looks factory and Im sure when I straighten out the oil pump (its bolted cockeyed and needs to be leveled out) that tab will sit flush to the mounting surface. You think it should be a stud/nut? Ill have to look into that before I toss it back together.
*EDIT* Yep white you are correct, I should have a bolt/stud combo. The price of $28 kinda stings but Buy once cry once I guess haha. Trying to make sure this engine lasts longer after Im gone so I want it done right.

Good morning thinkers!- Alligators!- last two days has been tied up by changing two large hydraulic cylinders in the dewatering press- (about 6 ft. long, 8” in diameter)- bad location, difficult to get to, hard to maneuver them to get out and in. This time one of the piviot pins (2”diameter) had to be flame cut out- more like melted out- from the piviot blocks. (It had to be done, basically, by feel, because you cant even get your helmet back in there to see.) All the while, the production folks are fretting because we aren’t getting the filtrate that the press squeezes out of the knots and shives-
Made for two longass days…
Anywho, you fellers be safe at your salt mine- ill catch up later!
I guess I m still at a loss, it's not the first time haha. ...what was meant by "Alligators" ? - Gremlins maybe ?
Good morning thinkers!- hope you all have great weekend!- be safe at the salt mine- im on vacation next week, so the Mrs. will, no doubt, have a pre Christmas hunny-do list ready for me!
Peace to all, thinkers! Ill catch up when i can!!
Same here, no biggie, a little rearranging for the Tree tomorrow, straiten out the mailbox...it's copping a lean. Deciding whether to wedge it or make a project out it, -do it up right with a few quarts of concrete.
This weekend (time permitting), I've got a wheel bearing on a 2015 Edge, CV Axle on the 06 Escape, brake pads on my Yaris, and the Wife's 2011 Escape has a broken trans mount. I'll just replace all four mounts while I'm in there. The wheel bearing is a for sure thing.... we'll see what else I get to. Oh... also need to get my axle dump setup started on Frankie as well.
EDIT: Scratch the wheel bearing... my Brother just called and said he's sick. Don't need my Wife getting sick right now.
Kinda, sorta thinking way far ahead here... although, my Wife told me that after the kids don't need the back yard anymore, it's game on for building a big azz garage. This would add about 10 feet onto what I already have (15 X 15) and allow me to put a car in it. I can fit my Yaris in my current spot, but it's my daily, so that makes no sense.

Alligators (the work kind) are things that come up in packs all at once to bite you in the *** all at once and unexpectedly.
This is exactly how alligators act in the wild. If you see one alligator in a river, there will be more nearby and when food arrives, a whole bunch will show up to fight over it. Kinda like chickens do when I toss out leftovers (or the god awful pumpkin pie my wife made this year, which is unusual as her pies are normally awesome).
Hmmm you think the person last in this oil pan thought it was weird that the pick up tube had a hole that sits directly above a bolt and the bolt wasnt bolting it down?
I kept looking at that and finally, I remember. FE blocks, other than 27's are all 10 main bolts the same. It actually goes under the main bolt. I remembered the M, C and W use the studded main, but couldn't remember the FE being that way. I went to the book.
SO, it goes under the bolt.
You could always tack a bolt on the main bolt and make a stud out of it if you really wanted, but I think I would go the oem Ford way and bolt it under the bolt.
Not too sure I believe all of that story on Matt... we'll see. He's a straight dude from all I've seen.
Got the CV axle checked off my list tonight. I still got it... if I weren't filming, I swear I could do it in 20 minutes. Oh... the new impact took another prisoner today. It has some serious torque, and I still haven't put it on high yet.
