My teacher used to work at the Ford factory in Mich. And he says when they built the 4.2 motor the first motor was putting out more horsepower and torque then the 4.6 so they had to retune the pcm to make the 4.6 had better numbers but that is what he said I couldn't find any thing about it

I don't understand how a non boosted v6 could be putting out more than a v8 that comes from the same builder. it goes against all logic. but. anything is possible. and yes new plugs and cops are a big reason a motor losses power.

Well it wouldnt be puttin out more than the 5.4. But I think it's possible for it to take the 4.6. That Is. IMHO. My V6 seems very quick. It gets goin fast and keeps goin. I won't say on here how fast. Don't need to give anyone ideas. But it's quick. I know before i get comments it's a truck not a sport car. I've had a 77 Camaro I know I'm just saying for a truck it seems very quick to me. That is why I wonder if my truck has ever been tuned. Again this is. IMO. What I feel.

The early 4.6's suck *****. NPI 4.6 vs 4.2 are very similar power output wise..

I think the 4.6 is a very slow motor I wouldn't buy an f150 with one but the 5.4 is a whole different motor I think some people don't understand that we are talking about the 4.6 and the 4.2 the 5.4 would stomp all over it all day long

No doubt there. 5.4 would eat the 4.6 and 4.2.
