Is there a way

And have any been produced in the last 10-15 years where efficiency started to become a big deal?
And when talking efficiency are we comparing an old ford 300 I6 to a 2013 1.6 ecoboost ?
Again, you still have yet to give your definition of efficient - we have no base line on which to judge by.
At what point does an engine go from being inefficient to efficient ? How is efficiency measured ?
I'm not trying to be douchey - just trying to point that you are making statements without much or any meaning behind them.
On one hand you're saying US automakers haven't been able to make an efficient straight 6, but by default have admitted German automakers have, so therefore German's have 'over-engineered' their motor by making it efficient ?
So again, by default, you are saying unless a straight 6 has been 'over-engineered' it has no possibility of being efficient ?
I'm sorry but this make doesn't any sense.

I know jeep was running the inline 6 for many years finally getting rid of it in 2006 the 300 i6 was dropped from ford in 1996 I know one of the guys I work with loves the 4.0 I6 motor and won't buy any other motor but as far as being efficient we do not know your term for it

My teacher used to work at the Ford factory in Mich. And he says when they built the 4.2 motor the first motor was putting out more horsepower and torque then the 4.6 so they had to retune the pcm to make the 4.6 had better numbers but that is what he said I couldn't find any thing about it
