Sprayed grille; before & after
Hey guys, just thought I'd share how I spent my Friday night.
The stock grille insert was countless shades of faded gray, and I finally got fed up. Went to Lowe's for supplies, apparently they don't sell Krylon paint anymore? I had intended to use the Fusion paint, which I have had good success with for other projects. However, they did have a Valspar plastic paint. I'm guessing Valspar is their in-house brand. So I picked up a can of black and a can of clear enamel and headed to the garage.
Lightly scuffed at it with a scotch-brite pad to get the dirt off, then cleaned it with a damp rag of paint thinner. Allowed to dry, taped her off, and got spraying.
I initially sprayed a light coat to have good base coverage, and then applied two more coats of increasing "thickness". Making sure to get all the nooks and crannies without having drips everywhere was the only "tough" part.
Luckily, I had beer to keep me occupied while waiting for the paint to dry.
The clear enamel went on, 3 coats of that as well.
I think it came out pretty damn good! Looks like brand new if you ask me.
Not bad for under 12 bucks!
