Well guys, I started on it tonight. This.... isn't as easy as I thought it would be. Got the cluster out, and the indicator free, buuuuut....

See the solid black tube? Yeah, that doesn't screw off AND it goes to the indicator. Plus, Ford made it where the hole it goes through is too small for the end of the cable on the indicator side to go through. So either...

1. I make the hole bigger and thread it through the tube and hope I can thread it back.

2. I start at the gear shifter end and get it off that way.

It was getting dark, so I had to put it all back together. Don't think I'll have time friday, so Saturday it will most likely be. I'll keep yall updated on what route I end up going on.

I remember when I did this it seemed pretty easy, and I don't remember having the problems that you're talking about. I just remember taking off the white bracket-replacing it-then running the wire back up to where it loops on and adjusting the black wheel until it showed correct gear.

Mine is a 2003, maybe they changed it. But i can't move the bad bracket towards the indicator due to a small stopper and the end of the cable having a large bracket. The white you see on the selector does separate from jt, but it's one bracket.

Yeah, it definitely did. And thanks, I'm going to do anything I can to get this figured out. Once I figure out a practical way that isn't obnoxious, I'll be sure to let yall know. I suffer so yall don't have to!

Yea, you have to take off a pretty big section that's under your steering column.

I think you are going from the wrong end. The red cable comming from the black tube should disconect from the shift arm then udscrew the wheel from the tube.
ut the shifter in low and you can get to it. you don't ned to take the dash apart.
