Default rust

I have an 2001 screw that needs some cab work. Their is a lot of rust running along the bottom below the doors. In some places the sheet metal is entirely gone. Is their any after market replacement sheet metal panels available or is this a job for a body shop.

You can buy new rocker panels but you have to weld them on which I'd imagine is quite the task so unless you're great at welding I'd take it to a shop

Their is no need to weld them on anymore. They sell a epoxy for gluing on body panels now. suppose to be stronger than welding.

I agree, I would prefer them be welded because I know that works.

Half the body panels on this truck are probably epoxied. I know they use mainly epoxy and rivets on the new f150. Epoxy is pretty awesome! I myself would prefer welding, but if I were doing this job I would just use epoxy....

partsgeek.com sells replacement rocker panels. they're about $100. I had the same issue with mine recently but a friend of mine is a very experienced welder and we made a custom piece out of jet coat and welded that in.

Strength isn't the problem. It's mudding over the overlap. It always cracks, - no matter what you use. It's also more work in the end and NOT the prefered method for the professional. It may have the longevity, - doesn't mean it's always going to look good or as one piece. Butt welding exterior panels, - that show, is a hole lot better than epoxy when done correctly.

So, in it's sort of essence or reality (rather), there may be no need for YOU to weld anymore, but that's as far as I would go with it.
