Default power steering pump...

So today I was dealing with some my bank account being hacked and leaving me 147 dollars in the hole. Yea. While I was running around trying to figure everything out my power steering pump quit working. I can still turn the truck (I drove it 35 miles home) so I assume the steering box is fine. There isn't any fluid pouring out anywhere, and the belt isn't slipping or making any noise. So I guess my question is can I use a pump off of any 97-03 truck?

Specs. 2001 screw 5.4 4x4 230,000 miles

Sorry for the long post having a bad day and needed to vent. Thanks for any info guys

I didn't check ALL years but the part numbers for an AC Delco pump for 1997 and 1998 trucks with the 5.4 are the same as your 2001

All 97-03(4H) show the 4.6 and 5.4 being the same part number. Lots of choices to choose from out there. Good luck with your truck and checking account.

The 4.2 is the same also, so go for any Gen 10 and get your pump.

Just a couple weeks ago my Brother's PS pump on his Escape was whining all the time. I just sucked all of the BLACK fluid out of it, and put new fluid in it. I repeated that process 5 or 6 times, and the whining completely stopped.

Mine had been making some noise not too bad tho. Definitely no worse than my old ranger I used to have. The fluid in it looked fine wasn't badly discolored, didn't smell burnt. Ol well I found a few you pull it places with plenty of trucks. Looks like I will be out around 60 bucks or so. New units where not that bad 44.99 is what I priced them new with a 82.00 core charge!

Does anyone know the bold sizes and hose fittings sizes I will need to remove one at the junk yard? Like the size wrenches and sockets I'll need? I would just like to be prepared, without having to take everything I own haha
