Great! Had the same problem with my 2000 F150 XLT. Found this forum and tried the recommended fix. This is the first thing I've ever soldered (looked up instructions first). Reinstalled, and it works. Thanks!

Thanks for posting this! Mine was just 1 resistor unattached in the back. I re-soldered, and its working again! Saved $$$.

Question Compass Display

Mine has the same burn in the bottom right-hand corner on the display. Is that due to the loose chips???

What type of solder did you use and what was the wattage of the soldering iron Thank you

Almost any soldering iron will work, I picked up a $5.00 one at walmart. It's a relatively small resistor with minimal current flow, so hardly any amperage is running through it.

Any soldering iron and solder should do the job, just make sure to get a good bead on the board terminal and resistor terminal.

Has Ford come out with anything on this? This is a very common issue and you would think that they could at least acknowledge this is an issue.

Great write up, I have one problem......
If I have lost one where can I buy another one, I am talking about the resistors when I took it one is missing all together it must have fallen out. And I have looked in every seat, floor every where can not find it so where can I get another one.
Need help pls.....

Can you take a pic of it? Just use a little more solder to hit the connection
