Overhead console, temp, compass
I'd say call around to a few junk yards and see if they have an entire unit. If they do rip it out and just plug it into yours to test and just swap the board.
On another note. This was no more difficult on mine with the sunroof. Took me less than 10 minutes total.

I wanted to thank you for the post as this is one thing that bugged me about my F150 as it never worked when i bought it. I decided to take it apart yesterday and when i took it apart at first it looked like there was nothing wrong but when i took my finger nail and pulled on one of the two resistors shown in the photo sure enough the opposite end popped up. I proceeded to solder it and voila.........it WORKED! THANKS so much for this and today i am attempting the Odometer fix and hopefully fix that as it is really annoying having the odometer reading go come on and off on its own.

Good day,
I have been away for a while and have since sold my bigred, but I do have pictures of the odometer fix if you need them... I just never got around to posting that process...
I'm glad it worked out for you and all the others on this forum... I will probably be back on here a lot more now that I am back home and will be getting another F150 (FX4) soon...
Cheers!!!
I had my overhead console temp gauge and compass go out....Finally had time to fix it....Just followed your directions to solder it back together and viola!...We got POWER!!! It's not to hard to get in there....I have a Sunroof on my FX4 Supercab.....just use a flat head screw driver, and carefully one corner at a time...I started with the aft part of the console first....4 snap prongs will come off and then you unplug the console, and unsnap the cover plate....Look!....there's the motherboard!.....I had a bit of time getting the solder to adhere from my bernz a matic pencil solder gun and their solder...so I switched to flux on a que-tip and silver solder....just a little bit.....and Wallah!....Done deal!......Thanks for the tips guys.....It's nice to have the compass on at night, when four wheelin' the thicket for Elk sign......and the temp gauge too, for that matter....
Resistors aren't "picky". Since both resistors in the pics have the same numbering, I assume they're the same value. Just measure the resistance of the remaining resistor with a meter ($8 at Walmart) and go into Radio shack and buy one. It doesn't need to look the same, and it's not polarity conscious. The smallest wattage resistor close to the same ohms should be fine. Should cost less than $1 for the resistor.

It can be fixed by simply reflowing the solder, or tapping a small amount of fresh solder into the side of the resistor where it's lifted up off the circuit board.
I did it to fix mine about three weeks ago. It's now working just fine.
IIRC it was the second resistor in a row of about four or five. Just look for the one that's very slightly lifted up off the board on one side, reflow that connection and put it all back into place.
