Need some help please
Well I'm sure I'm not the only one that this has happened to. Well I have taken my truck to get its oil change pretty regular an i always take it to the same "super center" well they cross thread the drain plug on the oil pan. They told me to just go to a mechanic to tap the drain opening and put new threads in it. Well the three mechanics I took it too all suggested that tapping it is not a fix and a leak waiting to happen. All of them suggested changing the drain pan. Either way what's y'all suggestion
You have the options in front of you. Decide what is more important, a potential leak down the road and causing major issues if you don't catch it (not guaranteed to leak though). Or the expensive route swapping oil pans. Weigh the pros and cons and make your decision.
If it was me, I'd be barking at the super center that does the oil changes. Have them fix it.

Screw those shops, they just want your money for a massive markup on a pan they can get you. A real fix is go to your local outdoor type place. Go to the boating section. Find a boat drain plug, one that twists to tighten. Buy that, throw it in. Perfect fix. It'll hold the oil in, keep water from sinking your truck. And it's easy to remove if you ever need quick access to your engine oil. Screw trying to find the right socket, and getting all dirty and such. Plus it's way cheaper. Not to mention easier. If you're really worried about it, get some gorilla tape and tape it in. I just saw an ad on tv for it, it looked like some legit stuff.
For real, get a new pan, and be done with it.. One pan is cheaper than a seized engine. Try and get the place that did it to pay for it. It was their fault. And don't take your truck to a place called "Super Center" anymore.

Just go to a good parts store and get a first size oversized drain plug for your vehicle. It recuts the threads a bit deeper, giving you a good solid seal. Dorman's Help line has it, as does everyone's quick service racks. It's not the end of the world, and a good cutter will fix the possible leak problems. I'd make the shop that changed the oil install it (or do it yourself) and get a magnetic one while you are at it to collect any metal shavings and keep your oil shavings free. Make them pay for the plug of course.
Yeah Im battling with them. From what I understand they wanted me to go get it fix and they will " reimburse" me. That's not how I play. Needless to say I take it there because my original place changed owners and stop carrying my brand oil. Took it to jiffy lube they overfilled it stopped going their. And super enter been taken it there for about 5 years. And this is the first screw up

All it takes is looking the wrong way while installing and wham, cross threads. You say you've been going there for years and they always took good care of you, then why not give the benefit of the doubt a bit. Unless they tried to hide the repair or something deceptive, then work with the owner and get your truck fixed. He could give you a signed piece of paper saying he'd pay for the repairs. You could even write it up and have him sign it, if you made it so it didn't screw the business. Just a thought to get you on your way and you are made right again.
My sister takes her Jeep to WalMart for her oil changes. One employee cross threaded her plug and didn't tell us about it. Went to go get the oil changed after 5000 miles and now they won't touch it since if they take it out they will have to pay to fix it. Told her to go to an Express Oil type place and they'd fix it no problem. Express Oil won't touch it either. Now we have to replace the oil pan. It sucks. This is why I change my oil myself.
