Default Help with OBD2 codes

Help with OBD2 codes. I have a 1998 f150 4.2 with 170,000 mi. Recent things I've done to it within the past 2 months spark plugs and spark plug wires. I have a code now actually two codes. The codes are p1535 and p1537. I erased them once and within one day they came back. The truck seems to run fine it's not stalling and it doesn't seem to have lost any power. A neighbor of mine told me I should change the following part that's pictured. He doesn't know what the name of the part is and neither do I. Could this be true? If so do you know the name of the part? Any info on the codes? Thanks

Actually for Fords 1535 is blower fan motor. I'm not sure what's going on there. Might want to handle the 1537 first. 1537 = IMRC stuck open...not following close commands.

For that one, check the solenoid and look for vac line damage..I believe they're over by the battery on the 4twos.

Weird. My OBD showed those codes as I posted them. I took your info and they also show the same codes. This is why I don't like those Emission CD manuals. Sometimes they are spot on and others, they do this.

Sorry to the OP. This is what my info showed, but Brew is correct. You can see below why I showed that info.

Huh, I did find a P1535 with your definition below, it took awhile, - -

https://www.fordobdcode.com/p1535-ford

BTW - the one in your picture OP is EVR..... if the green vac tube routes to the EGR valve anyway...it should.

Both IMRC codes for a V6 motor.
You won't notice much difference unless you feel how the motor runs with and without the controls.
Always use a Ford specific code list, not what the rest of the world uses.
Some codes are universal to all, the rest are used by Ford. Some codes only applicable to certain engines in the line up.
IMRC = Intake Manifold Runner Control.
Used to help make more low end torque when closed down at low RPM, then opens as the RPM climbs over about 2800.
They are vacuum controlled on the rear of the intake manifold each side with linkage.

Good luck.

typo. It's 1537 and 1538. Is it safe to drive for a few days before I can mess with it? Also where is the imrc located? I will check for vacuum leaks first.

The Google brings up a lot of different stuff for 1538. Check out this one. At 3:00. I'd be nervous before going to town on that code.
