Then you're about to invest in a set of vice grips. You'll need two of them.

The vise grips will cost much less than the damage repair.
Invest in the proper hand tools to get the job done and life will be much better.

Yea that's what I figured I know my papaw always had some old school tricks for different things, so I thought I might get lucky if I asked. I ended up having to leave it and drive my wife's car to work. My team leader has some he is gonna loan me. I assume everyone else would clamp onto the large female end with one pair and the male end with the other to break them apart?

Since its mangled now your best bet is an adjustable wrench on the block and a vice grip on what's left of the nut.

They make line wrenches for this exact reason. It's like the closed end of a normal wrench but it has a small cut in it that allows you to put it over the line while still making contact with all points on the nut.

I have a small pipe wrench that works better than vice grips on rounded of line fittings. That is if some one got to it before me. I have a good set of line wrenches.

Pipe wrenches serve one purpose. That purpose would be making a preacher cuss. Never ever has a pipe wrench out performed a good set of vise grips! Its not humanly possible...

I beg to differ with you. I have a 42" pipe wrench no vise grip can touch.
