Default Headlight on all the time.

2002 xlt crewcab when ever the key is turned on the head light are always on. I turn the head light switch from auto to off to park and to head light on. They always stay on with no change. Any tips on what should look at first?

I would suspect a bad headlight switch.

Try unplugging the headlight switch. Put a screwdriver in it on the side and pop it out.

Not how you properly pull the switch assembly out.

1. Move the switch to Headlights "ON" position and pull on the **** to the second detent.

2. Look for the small hole on the **** 180DEg from the indicating notch.

3. Insert a small flat blade screwdriver and remove the ****.

4. Flip the **** 180DEg and reinstall on the switch shaft.

5. Turn **** to "OFF" position and slide switch assembly out.

The **** installed 180DEg from normal on the switch shaft unlocks the assembly retaining tabs.

Cheers!

Depends on the year. I think '97-'98 are how you describe, later models you do just "pop" out.
