fuel issues
I have a 97 f250 light duty that just stopped running. I took it for a ride one day and it started running rough and I barely made it home but now it will not start at all. It has the 5.4 in it and it will start for a couple of seconds if I spray starting fluid into the throttle body but then it dies. It obviously has spark and I replaced the fuel filter but no luck. I was thinking it was the fuel pump but I have 40 psi at the rail with the key in the on position. Its just not getting fuel to the throttle body for some reason and I am at a loss. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

do you have any codes? without codes we have to guess. you could try cleaning the MAF sensor as it might be a reasonable guess of your problem. it is cheap to do and all around good maintenance. Just spray it down with MAF cleaner available at Autozone or most any other auto parts store.
Just to be clear, no fuel goes into the throttle body. The fuel injectors spray fuel directly into the combustion chamber. If you are getting fuel to the rail, I would check injector pulse with a test light. Just pull one of the connectors off the injectors and hook the light to each side of the connector (not the injector itself) Have someone crank the motor. The test light should flicker. If it doesn't flicker, you are going to need to get into the wiring....
Let us know how you make out with the test light.

I tend to think it's the fuel pump or clogged fuel line. If the injectors aren't firing as previously mentioned it would do this as well. That would probably be the pcm as it tells the injectors when to open or close. Test them first & if they are firing replace the fuel pump. While replacing the pump disconnect the fuel filter & lines on the fuel rail & blow them out with compressed air. By the time you complete all that you've eliminated any fuel issue.

I put a meter on it today and at the injector itself it is showing 3 ohms and when you crank the motor the harness that connects to the injector is showing 6.6 volts. I'm not sure what the correct volts should be
