im concerned about my map though, i wana open the thing up at some point and put some goodies in it, but iv heard the map gets pissy if you mess with the engine to much. and going carb isn't an option.
Oh ya you could run a Y and use the stock dual tail pipes...but I see what your saying.
It's been so long since guys were running these 460s that I can't remember exactly....but for some reason I remember comp cams making a cam shaft that would work with factory fuel injection and make a big power difference!

Well if you could afford it a nice setup would be a performance rebuild with an aluminum 4 barrel intake and the new msd atomic efi! 350 hp would be an easily attainable goal with just some higher compression pistons and a cam. The torque would be huge!!!
But this setup would cost a lot! Lol

You think ford sucks... Buy a jeep. I've owned 4 (takes awhile to learn lessons) three of which had less then 75,000 miles when I sold them. I replaced
Two engines rebuilt
Head gasket
Water pump
3x thermostats
Thermostat housing
A bazillion hoses
Transmission
Transmission pan
Pistons
Crank shaft
Rear shocks
Bunch of wiring
A/c compressor
Brake lines
Radiator (three)
Yeah that about does it.
Ford:
Starter
Battery
Master cyl

thats the great thing about the 460, 300-350 hp seem so easy to get out of it. almost everyone iv talked to about the 460 said the factory detuned the hell out of it to meet emissions, some say just headers and exhaust can gain up to 30 hp.

but i dont think iv heard of the "MSD atomic EFI" whats that? lol and i dont wana go carb. if i get down to it i have a goal of 300 hp out of it, until i get use to it and want more lol.

EDIT: looked up the MSD atomic EFI, and that thing is sweet, but that would drain my engine rebuild budget lol. i was only wanting to spend maybe 2k all said and done, doing most the work myself or with my friend.

Look up the word Dodge in a Dictionary. It means "to avoid". I think that says it all.

That's because of you not doing something. Not your trucks fault you don't maintain it.
What are you "getting fixed" when this happens?

My dog would not sit in any other truck like my 1997 f150 flare side 4.7.

"Had to GET it fixed" and "Had to fix it" are two totally different things...

If you learned a little about the trucks 4wd system or a little about the truck whatsoever you'd realize you could fix the problem yourself with ease and also realize that the not so complicated system has certain points that should be maintained so they are in working order when you need them...

Nobody should be complaining about a vehicle when they don't take care of it and don't perform a little preventive maintenance...

If you say "had to get it fixed" meaning you brought it somewhere, I doubt that means you get under there and maintain it once in a while...

People think that you just drive a vehicle till something breaks, then they think it's a piece of Crap when in actuality if they got off the couch once in a while on a Saturday morning and got under there, lubed, greased, replaced cracked hoses or any commonly worn items, they wouldn't of "Had to get it fixed" so often...
