My truck is better maintained than most trucks, for an '04 it is spotless and every maintenance schedule point has been looked after, I keep all my receipts for parts and fluids if you would like me to PDF them for you.... These things that are going wrong in the 4x4 system have nothing to do with preventive maitenance..

As for fixing it myself, I can turn a wrench with the best of them but as you see in my avatar, I am a busy guy and not often around very long. I don't have time to troubleshoot everything.

The complicated electronic/vacuum system is poorly set up in the first place and this is the second time it has let me down. I can tell you that it is the last time..the next time my truck will become a demolition range donor..C-4 fixes everything....

The fact that you think the 4wd engagement is complicated and that you still didn't say what's actually wrong with your truck when you take it in and let someone else fix it says it all buddy! Lmao!
Go blow your truck up and and spare us your ramblings as well!

7700SCREW-You must be paid a commission by Ford to be all worked up over a poor designed system like this vacuum/electronic system. Must of hit a wee nerve there..

At this point it doesn't really matter to you what was wrong does it?

no, it is all in how you take care of the vehicles. just like my dodge, somany people hate them because they break and aint reliable. but my dodge has had nearly 50k reliable miles with only $230 in repairs in 2 1/2 years. compared to my 96 f150 that had around 2500 in repairs in 20k miles.

Nowadays you almost have to take it in to get it serviced. Almost everything is wired into the computer system and if you don't do it right, you could very well **** it up for good...

You Keep avoiding the question...lol
I'm not fired up. I could care less about you or your problems your mechanic has to fix.

I have owned a ton of fords, especially 99-03 f150s and put a lot of kms on them! And there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 4wheel drive engagement on these trucks! It's reliable and has always worked when I needed it!
Going in and out of lease roads in the Alberta winter snow and spring mud is hard on our trucks.

And if you removed your shift fork and lubed it up once or twice a year you wouldn't have a problem either!
