Default Engine Replacement Companies

First thread here, unfortunately it is not a positive one.

I have a 1996 F150 with a 4.6L V8 (Romeo)

I recently blew my engine and I have been looking for the best place to get a new one. I'm wondering if anyone could help me out with the company I've chosen.

So the question is: Has anyone ever used and been satisfied with APX rebuilt Engines?

I looked all over, got quotes, talked with people that barely spoke english, and FINALLY got someone i can understand, that offers a good deal, with a good warranty. only problem is, they are not registered with the BBB so i'm relying on you guys to give me some input.

The engine we are discussing has 85k miles, has apparently been tested with the standard rebuilt-engine-tests, and works absolutely fine. the asking price is $800 and it comes with a 90-day warranty.

it almost sounds too good to be true, but their website, facebook, and twitter seem very legitimate. ANY info that you can provide will be appreciated.

Their link is apxengines.com

Is it just a used engine? No way it was totally rebuilt for $800. It would be only "repaired" in some way.

If you are mechanically inclined, and will do installation yourself, things like this might be a gamble you are willing to take.

If you have to spend a lot of money to have someone else install it, etc, its not worth the gample to save a few $.

A vehicle, much like a boat, is only as good as its engine. You shouldnt cheap out on engine if at all possible, unless you intend to sell it immediately.

What condition is your tranny it, and rest of truck? Is truck even worth sinking any money at all into? Sometimes you cut your losses. Ive gotten rid of several when it just got to that point. My 03 supercrew is in such good shape I spent money to put a reman in it, new tires, and would spend the money for a new tranny too if had too , at least compared with buying a new $20K used truck with 100,000 miles on it. I figured I was willing to spend up to $10k on my 03 to drive it another 5 yrs.

Not a problem. There just isn't any point in paying a middle man when you can get it directly from the supplier with the sane warranty. At least around here it is.
