EGR wont cause the pop. Its actually a low grade misfire. I've had EGR deleted and the only thing I have noticed is worse MPG's on the interstate.

And would you or anyone else recomend deleteing the EGR, i have a programmer to make up for that in the computer, but ive been chasing a P0174 code for quite some time, and my truck vibrates at idle i dont have a spark misfire that i know of but when idlein in park i have like a pop sound coming thru the pipes but when in drive with my foot on the brake it runs more evenly and theres no pop, the scan tool at the shop said all my spark plugs an o2 sensors are working correctly i dont have cats at all any due to one of my precats knocking, i used to be running only precats back into a Y pipe at the rear axle no muffler or big cats but i had this problem then too, changed the intake manifold gaskets 3 times thanks to BS gaskets from advanced that caused a coolant leak, ford gaskets solved that. New pcv valve an hose tree. Im stumped at this point i want to try new injectors but i dont have the money to spend on that due to needing tires soon
If it was the EGR both banks would be lean not just one. Did you check the manifold for cracks or check to make sure the mating surface is clean and clear? Not much else it could be really. Maybe a bad exhaust manifold leak could cause that code? No oil in the coolant or anything like that right?

I agree, check that intake for cracks and warping. Air leaks are really easy to miss on these things. I suggest getting a mixture of Dawn and water in a spray bottle and spraying around the mating surface. See if you can see bubbles and the mixture creeping in.

EDIT: Or you could smoke the intake.

And I hate to ask this, but did you follow the right torque sequence for the manifold bolts and torque them to the proper spec? There is a specific order they have to be torqued in or it can cause sealing or warping issues

My mistake, but hey , I see a lot of F150's w/ SD tailgates lol.

Wish they had a reason to bring back the 7700. I think it would sell, - if it was equipped with a new F150 diesel.

Right, has to be done. It's just as important as gasket prep..no fingerprints!

Adding another stage to the torque down sequence doesn't hurt.
