It's costing me a lot less to make the same amount of, if not a little more, power with the 460. The 429 was pretty bad rusty and on top of the extra machine work to take care of that just the parts for it were more expensive. I'm still going to build the 429 though, later on. When I have enough side funds built up I'll have it bored, add a stroker kit, and get some Cobra Jet heads for it, then I'll buy an older RCSB F-150 to throw it in.

Would it be cheaper for you to just find another 429 after you factor in the machining cost? Not a new production or anything, just one In better shape

Not with a free block VS buying a different one. That's $200-500 and it would still need bored to run the stroker setup I was looking into so I wouldn't come out any money ahead.

Wasn't the condition a lot to do with the price though?

Yeah it needed about $100 more machine work and the parts were $400 more because I needed rods and pistons.

It would be awesome. Just run a stand alone engine and trans controller then run custom gauges, run custom wiring for the lights and windows etc to cut the wiring down to a minimum.
